2011 CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
The weather on 29th Oct 2011 was far kinder to us than last year. The morning was wet but by the start of our show the rain had passed over and we ended up with a clear day - some sunshine and quite a bit of wind which is great for showing Gundogs.
We had a wonderful panel of judges Mr Chris Bexon (UK), Mrs Kathy Gorman (UK) and Mr Claudio Rossi (Brazil).
Mr Bexon judged General Specials and selected the Pointer - NZ Gd Ch/Aust Ch Chesterhope State of T Art (Imp NZ)(owned by J Jolly / K McGhie / D O'Neill / J O/Neill) for Best Exhibit In Show. His Runner Up In Show was the English Springer Spaniel Aust Ch Alhambra Victoria Wood (owned by M & K Keely / S M McFadden).
Our new venue at Rolling Meadows, Sunbury, seemed to please exhibitors - parking was excellent and the ground was in great condition. Perhaps one downside was the distance to facilities way over the other side of the oval? I will be interested to hear feedback. I know the task of getting tea & coffees for our judges and stewards was not easy!
Great thanks to our stewards Anthony Price, Matthew Norton and Muir Colderwood. These three are the most pleasant and efficient stewards that we could ask for - a delight to have them on the day. Thanks also to Pam Ball, our ticket writer, who had to battle the wind trying to keep her paperwork under control! Finally, thanks to Renee who judged our Junior Handlers and Charlotte who volunteered to steward - a pleasure to have you help us out on the day.
My thanks to Mary Conheady for great support and help on the day plus her work leading up the day and Dianne Lees for many odd jobs on the day. It is a big show to run and with very few hands to help we got through another year.
